YOUTH CLUB

GOOD NEWS FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE OF MIDDLETON ST GEORGE!!!

We can now confirm that building work has begun on converting the community centre basement into a village youth club for all ages.

It must feel like this promise has been going on forever, but Doris Jones and Steve York have been working hard behind the scenes with the Borough Solicitor dealing with all the 'red tape' to ensure the funds are available.

Those young people who have seen the architect's drawings and who have looked at the basement are really excited at the prospects of having their own space in the village at last.

The basement will consist of boys and girls cloakrooms, coffee bar, a wireless router for computer work and disco area.  (Obviously the basement will be available for the community to use when the youth club is not using it.)

Entrance to the youth club will be strictly by membership and for Middleton St George young people.  The club will be supervised by Darlington Borough Council youth workers and volunteers, and every effort is being made to ensure that young people in our village will have a safe environment in which to meet up with friends.

We are also working to provide outdoor activities but we need your input to help design this.
